Slow Down

I’ve been thinking a lot about how culture tells us to make lists and resolutions, and to get active and to be productive in the new year, however the weather outside that comes from nature’s natural cycle has been telling me to slow down and take a pause.

Embracing the Natural Rhythm of the Season.

As you observe nature's tendency to retreat and hibernate, consider why January has become synonymous with radical change and action. This goes against the grain of the natural world. If you feel the urge to create your own den and take a break, you're actually in sync with the season's requirements.

It's no secret that life can be overwhelming at times, leaving us feeling stressed and burnt out. However, it's important to recognize when we need to slow down and reset. Here are five tips to help you do just that:

  1. Prioritize self-care: This can include anything from taking a relaxing bath to practicing meditation or yoga. Whatever helps you feel relaxed and rejuvenated is important to incorporate into your routine.

  2. Disconnect from technology: Put your phone away, turn off your computer, and disconnect from social media. Taking a break from technology can help you recharge your batteries and give your mind a much-needed break.

  3. Spend time in nature: Whether it's going for a hike, a walk in the park, or simply sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air, spending time in nature can help you feel grounded and at peace.

  4. Practice mindfulness: Pay attention to the present moment and try to let go of worries about the future or regrets about the past. Focus on your breathing, your senses, and the world around you.

  5. Set boundaries: Learn to say no when you need to and prioritize your own needs. It's important to recognize when you're taking on too much and to take steps to reduce your workload and responsibilities. Remember, slowing down and resetting is all about taking care of yourself.
